Beneficial Management Practice (BMP) Funding

Beneficial Management Practices or BMPs as they're commonly called, refer to a wide variety of agricultural practices aimed at reducing the environmental impact of farming activities on the landscape, for example: forage seeding, cross fencing, portable windbreaks and water well decommissioning just to name a few. Through the Canada Saskatchewan Farm Stewardship Program (CSFSP) producers are eligible to receive cost-shared funding for the implementation of BMPs on their land.

The Assiniboine Watershed Stewardship Association (AWSA) is administering 4 Agri-Environmental Group Plans (AEGPs):

  1. Lower Assiniboine River
  2. Upper Assiniboine/Swan River
  3. Whitesand River
  4. Yorkton Area Aquifers
Through these group plans, producers within the 25 RMs of the greater Assiniboine River Watershed are able to access funding for their particular projects.

For information on how you can access funding for your project and for help completing your application, contact a member of the AWSA:
  • Aron Hershmiller - Manager 783-1695
  • Jesse Nielsen - Watershed Coordinator 783-1692
