Beneficial Management Practices or BMPs as they're commonly called, refer to a wide variety of agricultural practices aimed at reducing the environmental impact of farming activities on the landscape, for example: forage seeding, cross fencing, portable windbreaks and water well decommissioning just to name a few. Through the Canada Saskatchewan Farm Stewardship Program (CSFSP) producers are eligible to receive cost-shared funding for the implementation of BMPs on their land.
The Assiniboine Watershed Stewardship Association (AWSA) is administering 4 Agri-Environmental Group Plans (AEGPs):
Through these group plans, producers within the 25 RMs of the greater Assiniboine River Watershed are able to access funding for their particular projects.
