"What my watershed means to me..."
The Assiniboine River Watershed Poster Contest 2010
The Assiniboine Watershed Stewardship Assoc. recently wrapped up their 2010 poster contest for grade 5 and 6 students. The contest was entitled, "What my watershed means to me...". It was part of a provincial contest amongst 7 watershed organizations. We received a total of 169 entries from 6 different schools within our watershed. Click on the link below to see the list of winners!
We came up with some very nice prizes this year to try and make the contest more attractive to students (see contest details link below), including a $75 Wal-Mart gift card, a back-pack full of prizes and an all-expenses paid trip for the winner and their parent(s) to attend the Annual SK. Watershed Conference in Swift Current in April where the student's poster will be presented and judged against 6 others for a chance to win the grand prize- a laptop computer.
Jesse and Aron would like to say 'Thank You' to those teachers and students that invited us to their schools to give presentations about our watershed.
We think this was a great opportunity to educate students about their watershed and the importance of water conservation, plus there were some pretty nice prizes to be won while doing so. Thanks again for a great success!
